Aroma Therapy & Essential Oil Guide

This is my brief guide to aromatherapy practices that I use in my day to day life. I wanted to share them with you, in hopes of reintroducing you to a lifestyle that is both rewarding and therapeutic. These simple day to day practices can be worked into any schedule and will armor you in your spiritual journey with the tools you need to succeed. Whatever, whoever, and wherever your path leads you, these remedies will guide you to more fulfilling results. Enabling you to reach greater spiritual awareness & better self-awareness. This article isn’t about influencing you to change your habits or lifestyle. It’s just a reminder to take time out of your day to nourish your spirit, strengthen your light, and build a stronger, more resilient connection to God. Get in tune with yourself today. Exercise, pray, meditate, and surround yourself in an environment that helps you practice these methods comfortably.

Self-reflection is key.

But be good to yourself! Remind yourself that your purpose is to align your body, mind, and spirit. Your light being replenished is your objective. Keep your thoughts pure and positive. It’s better to focus on an object or a sound and clear your mind of thoughts. But we can get to that later. For now, practice breathing techniques, and sliding into a comfort zone so that can dive deep into your conscious. Self-reflection helps us to find answers, reprogram our mind and our way of thinking, and most importantly self-reflection helps us to mend and heal old wounds. In turn, gathering strength and wisdom as we go along. Creating a better version of yourself can happen any day, and every day, starting today.


Oils can be used to aid in Prayer & meditation

Many advocates of aromatherapy essentials such as myself, apply oils directly to their skin. It is absorbed into their body and travels through the entire bloodstream promoting A whole body healing effect. This is increasingly effective when combined with prayer & meditation. Combining essential aromas with prayer and mediation is significant to promote spiritual and mental healing. It will ease your mind and body into a more relaxing and comfortable state to begin your spiritual journey.

SIDE NOTE: Some oils have medicinal properties and are used to remedy inflammation or infections, such as antibacterial essential oils, or antifungal essential oils, such as clove, and thyme, etc. See your family or personal physician to learn more about this.

Essential Oil Blends


 

  • Memory Boosters

Massage: 

This form of Aromatherapy uses extracted essential oils to enhance the benefits of a massage and is the most popular application method among practitioners. During the massage, the essential oils are absorbed through the skin in entering the bloodstream producing healing effects both psychologically and physiologically the neural mechanisms of perception and behavior. 

Steam Inhalation: 

The fastest way to reap the benefits of essential oils is to inhale them, by combining the oils to steam. The vapors open your skin pores and clear the nasal passage, clearing congestion. Alleviating sinus and respiratory issues. A common technique of vapor inhalation is to add five drops of essential oils to steaming water and create a towel text by wrapping a towel around your head so that the steam doesn't escape and breathe in.  

 

Water Immersion: 

Bathing or being submerged in water is a sacred symbolic ritual in many traditions. The four elements of earth, wind, fire, water can be combined by adding candles for fire, crystals for the earth, and the aroma from the scented oils will blend with the fresh air. Add just eight to ten drops of essential oils per bath. Blending before submerging. The steam from the hot bath will penetrate and relax muscles while reducing stress levels all over the body. The aroma from the scented oils will enhance your circulation and bring about physical balance. 

Compression: 

The compression technique can provide relief for headaches, sore muscles, and cramps. Just add a few drops to a bowl of steaming water, dip in a washcloth and use it to blend together. Using the washcloth as a compress, place it on any part of the body that requires relief. 

Lotion & Creams: 

Blend essential oil into your favorite unscented topical creams, carrier lotion, body oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, etc. To create your own personal custom scent. Massage onto skin, hair, and scalp to stimulate the desired healing properties.  

Diffusers and Candles: 

For a more convenient way to provide a soothing and relaxing atmosphere, aromatherapists use diffusers. Oil burners take heat to essential oils and spread them throughout the room. Essential oil-based incense and scented candles can create a focal point for meditation as well. Water diffusers that come recommended by many practitioners of aromatherapy, use steam but provide the same effect
